Der Tinguely Brunnen ist wohl einer der berühmtesten Brunnen der Neuzeit in Basel. Erbaut
wurde er vom Künstler Jean Tinguely im Jahre 1977. Die Maschinenplastiken sind vorallem im
Winter unbeschreiblich schön und eindrucksvoll. Die Plastiken tragen Namen wie, "dr Schuffler",
"dr Waggler", "dr Suuser".
Der Chemiekonzern Hoffman-La Roche erbaut zu ehren des Künstlers und zur Feier ihres hundert
jährigen Bestehens ein Tinguely Museum, das dieses Jahr eröffnet werden soll (1996).
Im Sommer ist der Platz (Theaterplatz) um das Kunstwerk vorallem ein Treffpunkt für Jugendliche.
Weniger Meter vom Brunnen entfernt befindet sich der Eingang zum Stadttheater.
The Tinguely fountain is probably one of the most famous fountains of modern times in Basel.
The Swiss sculptor Jean Tinguely designed and constructed it in 1977. Above all in winter,
these sculptures are very nice and impressive. Each of them has got a name, such as "dr Schuffler"
(schuffle = to shovel), "dr Waggler" (waggle = to wobble) or "dr Suusser".
In honour of the artist Tinguely and on the occasion of their hundert-year existence, the
chemical corporation Hoffmann-La Roche is building a museum dedicated to Tinguely, which is to open this
year (1996).
In summer, the square around the fountain (theatre square) is one of the meeting points for
youngsters. Only a few metres from the fountain, you can see the entrance of the theatre.
La fontaine de Tinguely est bien une des plus célèbre des temps modernes à Bâle. Elle a été

impressionantes spécialement en hiver. Elles portent des noms comme "dr Schuffter"
(le travailleur), "dr Waggler" (celui qui bascule) ,

Le trust de chimie Hoffmann-La Roche batit un musée Tinguely en honeur de l'artist et pour
célèbrer son centenaire. Ce musée doit être inaugurer cette année (1996).
En été la place autour de cet oeuvre (Place du Théatre) est surtout une place de recontre pour
les jeunes. Quelques mètres a côté de la fontaine se trouve l'entrée du théatre de ville.
